High Resolution Viewer-
One thing that we have wanted to improve upon is our map clarity.  Our new high resolution viewer does this!   This is a built in feature that you can turn on or off and dramatically improves the look of the map to help in reading the contour lines and text of the map.  To see a comparison, click here.

Wide Format Print Support-
Map Academy now supports printers that print larger than the standard 8.5"x11" paper and will print to whatever printer and size you are set up for.  You can now print a whole topo map on one sheet of paper.

Full Map Export-
Supports full export capability of a whole topo map to use in other programs and applications royalty free.  Map Academy can export as either a .tiff or .bmp file type and also exports the .tfw or .bpw world file for use with coordinate supporting programs.

Miscellaneous Changes-
Improved the Print to Scale dialog for easier printing and scrolling of the Print Red Box.  Added Print Setup button.   Added check boxes to quickly change Red Box from Portrait to Landscape mode.

Added lines and easier scrolling control within the Search Database to make it quicker to find your placename search.

Distance lines can be held temporarily to the map without saving them to the map.  Temporary Lines will stay on the map until you leave the map.  Temporary Lines are held on the map in a purple color and can be printed or deleted.

Directly type Quad Map Name in Map Name dialog for quick map jump.

Platinum / Gold Version 3.1 Download File
This file and install will update any platinum and/or Gold state collection you have installed on your computer.  This will also update multiple state collections if you have more than one state installed.  This file will not work if you do not have Map Academy 3.0 installed on your computer.  Note: during the translation of the waypoint database, the install may prompt for one or more of the Map Academy CD's to be inserted in the CD ROM drive.  This is necessary so the update can maintain all saved waypoints that you may have already in the database.

1. Click on file below and save to hard drive.
2. Once Downloaded, close all programs and then double click on file.  Winzip will open up and click the 'Install' button with Winzip. (if you do not have Winzip already on your computer, you can download a free evalutaion below)
3. Follow prompts during install (computer may need to be restarted) until install completes successfully.
4. Go to Start and Programs and choose Map Academy 3.1 or double click on the Map Academy 3.1 icon on desktop.
5. Map Academy will open along with a Translate Collection Window for Version 3.1.
6. A list of all installed state collections will appear with a blank check box.   Check off the state collections you want updated to 3.1.
7. Click on the Translate Button.  Update of database collections will take place.
8. Updating Map Academy is complete.  Click on the Close Button to close Translation Window.
9. Go up to the File Menu Pulldown and choose Open Maps.  Select the state collection.
10. Once a topo map is open, to activate the High Resolution Viewer, click on the Hi-Res button at the top right of the window.

Note: Do not Uninstall Map Academy 3.0
